Laser Welding Cell AL-Q

We have developed the laser class 1 welding system for automated welding applications. The working chamber can be loaded quickly because an electric door opens and closes at the push of a button. At the end of the welding process, the electric door opens automatically.

The AL-Q is ideal for series production of components in the fields of medical technology, sensor technology and precision mechanics. This is because welding tasks on surgical instruments, endoscopes, sensors, precision parts, etc. can be performed precisely, pore-free, gas-tight and in a time-saving manner. Laser-welded parts have high corrosion resistance and mechanical stability due to the low heat-affected zone.

Easily accessible working chamber

Individual parts or magazines find sufficient space on the centrally arranged work table, which also has a feed-through at the bottom for long components. These can also be inserted into the cabin via a slot on the side. Hold-downs or other fixing systems can be controlled via I/O. For more automation, a pick-and-place system can be connected or retrofitted.

The AL-Q laser welding system fits through any standard door but offers a large working area inside due to the cleverly placed optics.

Laser sources available with different power levels

The AL-Q is available with different air-cooled fiber laser sources of 150, 300, 450 or 600 watts. The 450 and 600 watts are optionally available water-cooled.  The laser sources enable either pulsed welding or CW heat conduction welding.

Pulsed welding with frequencies up to 100 Hz, allows to achieve gas-tight welds even on crack-prone materials.

CW heat conduction welding is ideal for joining cylindrical sensor components. Welding is performed with low penetration depth by heat conduction. Depending on the parameterization, little to no scaling is obtained in the weld seam, which is advantageous for components that later require sterile cleaning.

With CW deep welding, penetration depths of up to 2.5 mm in stainless steel are possible, depending on the laser power. Deep penetration welding is used, for example, for sensors that have to withstand high burst pressure.

In addition, the laser cell can be flexibly equipped with all ALPHA LASER industrial optics. This extends the range of applications. A quick-change system is optionally available.

Also for small manual welding tasks

A special feature is that even manual welding tasks can be performed with the AL-Q (rework, single piece, etc). To observe the welding process, the optional ALPHA LASER 2D video goggles are plugged in. Work is then carried out with the door open - with additional laser protection measures.
