Flexible Laser Welding for Repair and Production Applications
The ALM 500 F NEO is a mobile laser welding system that combines repair welding, joining applications, and sheet metal welding in a single system. It combines the flexibility of the classic ALM with a new laser technology for a significantly expanded range of applications.
Applications
The ALM 500 F NEO is used for:
- Sheet metal joining applications
- Repair welding in tool and mold making
- Cladding with filler wire
- Welding of large or complex components
- Flexible applications with changing requirements
System Description
Typical Features:
- Mobile design
- Manual processing under the microscope
- Suitable for repair and production applications
- Combination of cladding and joining applications
The ALM 500 F NEO is designed for flexible welding tasks where components cannot be processed in a fixed location or where different applications need to be covered by a single system. The ALM 500 F NEO is particularly useful when conventional stationary solutions reach their limits. It is ideally suited for applications where components cannot be brought to the laser and instead require flexible mobile operation within the production environment.
It is also commonly used in environments where different welding tasks need to be handled with a single system. In addition to traditional repair welding, the system also enables joining applications, significantly expanding its range of applications.
Like its stationary sister system, the AL-IN 500 F NEO, the ALM 500 F NEO represents a new generation of laser welding. Thanks to its specific beam characteristics and enhanced process capabilities, the new NEO technology enables a significantly broader range of applications.
Processes
Wide seam width range
The AL-IN 500 F NEO enables seam widths from 0.1 to 5.0 mm, covering an exceptionally wide range of applications in industrial laser welding. Different component geometries and material requirements can be efficiently processed with a single system.
The extended seam width range also allows wire diameters of up to 1.6 mm to be deposited. This increases process flexibility and enables faster cladding or identical results in a shorter amount of time.
Extended gap bridging for stable welding processes
Larger gaps between components can be handled reliably. The system bridges gaps of up to 0.6 mm at a sheet thickness of 5 mm, thereby reliably compensating for manufacturing tolerances.
This reduces the need for complex component preparation and minimizes rework. At the same time, weld seam quality remains consistently high, resulting in stable, reproducible welding processes in industrial applications.
High weld depth
Demanding welding tasks require sufficient joint depth. With a weld depth of up to 3 mm, stable and load-bearing welded joints can be achieved – even with thicker materials or increased requirements for seam strength.
This significantly expands the range of applications and enables the reliable implementation of applications that would not be possible or only limited with lower weld depths.
Your Benefits with the ALM 500 F NEO
In addition to the established features of the ALM , the ALM 500 F NEO incorporates new functions specifically designed to enhance both usability and process reliability.
These include an electric braking system, which increases system stability while reducing maintenance requirements. This is complemented by a modern touchscreen display that enables intuitive and clearly structured operation. In addition, an integrated joystick simplifies software navigation and parameter adjustment directly at the system – without constantly switching between different control elements.
This combination of mechanical stability, modern user guidance, and direct controllability supports safe and efficient day-to-day operation.
A newly integrated dimmable ring light improves visibility of the welding area and enables more precise positioning – particularly useful when working with the pilot laser and fine weld spots.
The integrated ramp-up and ramp-down function enables controlled increase and decrease of laser power. Especially when welding aluminum, the energy input at the beginning and end of the weld seam can be precisely controlled, resulting in cleaner weld starts and endings.
As an air-cooled system, the unit does not require an external cooling device. The optical components are reliably temperature-controlled via an integrated cooling system.
