In 1994, physicist Josef Höllbauer founded ALPHA LASER GmbH. The next year, Wolfgang Seifert and Hans J. Penser, also physicists, joined the company as partners. That same year, at the International Dental Show in Cologne, they presented the first welding laser for dental applications. Its great success reinforced the founders’ determination to develop laser welding devices for the dental market and to sell them with the help of partners worldwide. Since those first days, ALPHA LASER has been in intensive dialog with its customers and distribution partners around the world. And this is the company’s great strength – quickly and precisely recognizing and implementing the needs of the market. In the 1990s, the dental lasers were joined by laser devices for the jewelry industry.
In 1998, ALPHA LASER entered what is today its most important market segment – tool and mold manufacture. With the market introduction of the ALW vario 100 closed laser, the company has reached a further milestone in its development. In subsequent years, the company has brought a variety of closed and open laser systems and 4-axis laser work benches to market.
ALPHA LASER reached another milestone in 2003 with its ALM mobile laser, whose maneuverability made it a great success with customers from the very first day.
Since 2008, the mobile ALFlak has ruled the market, and with its 2014 variant ALFlak Max, ALPHA LASER has confirmed its position as the inventor of mobile laser welding systems for automated welding also.
In addition to its core business of laser welding, for years, ALPHA LASER has also developed professional devices and systems for laser cutting and hardening, such as the world’s first mobile laser robot for laser hardening.
In 2013, Hans J. Penser left the company, and since April 1, 2014, executive management has had two new members: Thomas Golinske, head of sales, and Georg Meyndt, head of development.
In 2015, ALPHA LASER celebrated its 20th anniversary and moved into new company headquarters at Junkersstraße 16 in Puchheim, Germany. This year the ALM receives a TÜV certificate. It is certified that it is the first mobile welding laser on the market that meets the high safety requirements of performance level d.
In addition, we now offer our lasers either as flash lamp-pumped systems or with a fiber source. The ALFlak is the pioneer in our product range.
In 2016 the performance class of the ALPHA LASER laser systems already reached up to 900 W.
The AL-ARM is nominated for the Hermes Prize in 2018. It is the first welding laser that can do without microscope observation - thanks to 3-D video goggles that also function as laser safety goggles. Another new feature is the concept of the handpiece, which enables very flexible welding, especially when repairing car bodies.
25 years of ALPHA LASER - our anniversary in 2019. The years passed by in a flash. But resting is not. Our customers ask for a robust, mobile welding laser with a fiber source, plenty of storage space and good load security. That is what the AL-CROSS unites. Its AL-DRIVE control unit even won the German Design Award. In the same year, the expansion of our company headquarters in Puchheim begins.
2020 - ALPHA LASER now has a 3-D printer in its product portfolio - the AL3D-METAL with safe powder handling. The ideal system for prototypes, jewelers, universities and for powder tests.
Wolfgang Seifert - co-founder, owner and managing director is retiring after passing on his great laser knowledge to young people in the company.
